Nepalese Society for Oculoplastic Surgeons NESOS was formed on 15th October , 2014 with small number of Oculopalstic surgeons working in Nepal. The society was founded by ophthalmologists who have had training or fellowship and experience in this highly specialized field of Orbit and Oculoplastic surgery.
NESOS currently has 20 full members with few international honorary and associated members.
The objectives of NESOS are to advance the academic and training and provide quality care service in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery of eyelids, orbits and lacrimal system.
The society is always ready to affiliate or associate with other institutes, societies and organizations to upgrade the quality of the service in this field by sharing the skills and knowledge together as well to overcome the challenges and explore the possibilities in the future.
To create the interest in this field among the new graduates and expand this service nationwide is another aim of this society.
The society together with Nepal Ophathamic Society had organized successfully the second National Oculoplasty Conference in October 2014; National Oculoplasty Symposium in September 2015 with delegates attending from different part of the world. The society together with team from Bumrungrad International hospital Bangkok held First cadaver dissection course in Endoscopic Dacryocystorhinostomy which went successfully to learn this technique among new energetic surgeons.
As a co organizer of Eastern regional pearls of India together with Oculoplastic association of India OPAI the society participate actively in the conference organized in Silliguri in 2016.
Taking the social responsibility during the massive earthquake in the country the members of the society voluntary worked in distributing relief materials to earthquake victims in Kattike Deurali VDC in Kavre district together with Dhulikhel hospital in May 2015.
- To improve and preserve the professional standard, ethical practice and value of the members of NESOS.
- To carry out academic activities that increases the knowledge and skills of the eye doctors working in this field in the country.
